Perth’s newest imports Guyon Fernandez and Diego Castro have appeared to hit their stride for the Glory after both scoring in the sides 3-1 victory over Adelaide United at nib Stadium.
After a confident performance midweek to make it into the FFA Cup final, Perth continued their improving form to pick up their first win of the Hyundai A-League season.
The Glory opened the scoring through Sidnei Sciola in the 44th minute. Gryorgy Sandor sliced the Adelaide defence open leaving Sciola with just the keeper to beat. The Brazilian took the opportunity with open arms with an easy left-footed finish to push the Glory ahead just before the break.
Guyon Fernandez was the next to get his name on the scoresheet after Richard Garcia capitalised on an Adelaide mistake before firing a cross to the second half substitute, Fernandez. The striker calmly shipped the ball into the goal in the 60th minute and showed the class that had been so promised to the Glory faithful.
Diego Castro picked up the Glory’s third in the 71st minute through another assist by Garcia. The Glory captain made a storming run down the left before firing in a low cross. Castro was at the end of it to tap in the Glory’s third for the day and leave the Perth fans jubilant.
Adelaide managed to pinch a goal back several minutes later through Diogo Ferreira after an error in the Glory’s midfield. However, it was too little too late for Adelaide as Perth ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
