Perth Glory have slumped to their second defeat in two games to sit at the foot of the table. The 10 man Glory side managed to hold off a Wellington Phoenix onslaught until the dying moments of the game to eventually fall 2-1.
Perth’s key signings Guyon Fernandez and Diego Castro once again failed to impress by creating very limited scoring opportunities.
The game began at a frantic pace with the Glory opening the scoring in the 7th minute through Gyorgy Sandor. The Phoenix equalised just two minutes later through Roy Krishna.
The remainder of the game was a rather dull affair with highlights few and far between. The Phoenix appeared to be the better of the sides on the day and were rewarded in the 89th minute through Lia following Richard Garcia’s 84th minute dismissal for a second yellow.
Perth now look ahead as their season has begun the way it ended last season. Some positive signs won’t do much to please Glory fans who are repeatedly disappointed by the side underperforming. Perth will need to get back to winning ways soon or risk being left behind and playing catch up for the rest of the season.
