With much of the Perth Glory squad from last season being ripped limb from limb, it is hard to picture where Perth will build its squad around and who will play a key role in the club’s success.
We will have a look at the top 5 players who can turn this coming season into one to remember for the Glory.
5. Ante Covic
After being released by Western Sydney Wanderers, the ex-Socceroo goalkeeper signed with the Glory due to the departure of Danny Vukovic. Vukovic had proved to be one of the best in the league and Covic has big shoes to fill. With all of his experience, he may be the man to do the job.
4. Dino Djulbic
The big defender has already proven to be solid at the back and if his form is set to continue then the Glory are in for an exciting season. One of Perth’s more consistent players, Djulbic will need to continue his impressive play if Perth are to stand a chance of making the finals.
3. Nebojsa Marinkovic
Marinkovic scored the equaliser against the Western Sydney Wanderers in the FFA Cup quarter final to send the game into penalties. If Marinkovic can score more important goals like this, then the Glory will be a vastly improved side.
2. Guyon Fernandez
Perth’s marquee signing will bring worlds of experience to the squad and provide the much needed firepower upfront. Much of Perth’s season will rest on Fernandez’s ability to fill the void left by Any Keogh.
1. Michael Thwaite
Perth originally feared that they would lose Thwaite in the off-season, however the 32 year old decided to remain at the club. Thwaites versatility to play both in defence and in the midfield also provides a massive boost for the side. The former Glory captain will have a point to prove in the coming season.
