A 10 man Perth Glory has battled to a 1-0 extra-time victory of Lions FC to qualify for the quarter finals of the FFA Cup.
Lions had a good opportunity early but were fouled in the box by Tyson. The keeper was subsequently sent off and Nick Feely came on to face the penalty. The 9th minute penalty was saved and the Glory seemed to lift.
Perth appeared to have the upper hand, considering they were down a man, throughout the first half.
Both sides traded opportunities in an otherwise slow game and neither side was able to break the deadlock with no real clear chances made, besides the original penalty.
Both sides went into extra time with no real clear cut chances until Harold buried a rebound with only minutes to go.
The Glory managed to withstand a late Lions siege to maintain their lead.
This result is very positive for all involved with Perth as a hard fought victory against a strong opposition will do wonders for the team’s moral, especially after going down to 10 men.
The Glory now head back to Perth knowing that they are one stride closer to making the FFA Cup final and hopefully going one step further than last season.
