Perth Glory will face Lions FC in the FFA Cup round of 16, in what is being dubbed a “David versus Goliath” encounter.
The Brisbane based side were one of the teams who impressed last time around, pushing eventual winners Adelaide United to their limit. The Lions play in a league below the PS4 NPL level.
Perth Glory has a reputation of performing well against lower-level opposition in the past, especially on the road.
Many are stating that Kenny Lowe’s new squad is beginning to perform well together and are taking many positives from the clubs victory over the Newcastle Jets in the last round of the cup.
All those involved with Perth will need a reminder that Newcastle are a side that has been struggling almost as much as the Glory, both on and off the pitch.
It appears that Lions FC may be in the best possible position to upset the FFA Cup finalists due to recent distractions and being able to face the boys from Perth at home.
Perth Glory are coming off a 1-0 victory over the Western Australian All Stars XI, while Lions FC are coming off a 2-0 loss to Capalaba in the Brisbane Premier League and are currently sitting first in the league.
