Perth glory have defeated Newcastle Jets in the FFA Cup on penalties to reach the round of 16.
Perth have a history of strong performances in this competition, reaching the final last season. Their impressive form in the competition has continued with a hard fought win over Newcastle.
The Jets took an early lead on the 24th minute through David Carney. It appeared that it would be a sad night for the Glory as Marc Warren received a yellow card in the 38th minute for a bad foul.
A slow game was spurred into life in the 87th minute when Sidnei leveled the scores for the Glory with a shot into the top corner.
The game moved into extra time with the Glory taking the lead only 2 minutes into extra time through Nebojsa Marinkovic.
It appeared Perth would be able to hold onto the victory, however, just as Perth had done, the Jets stole a late goal in the 115th minute through Labinot Haliti.
The game came down to penalties. New signing Jerrad Tyson showed his class, saving three penalties to send Perth through to the next round of the competition.
