After what seemed like a horror start to 2015, only winning one game in 3 months, the Glory have seemingly turned a corner. While an unconvincing 3-2 win over the struggling Wanderers at NIB stadium does not seem like the best result, Perth still managed to get the 3 points and other results seemed to go their way with Sydney FC defeating Wellington Phoenix to see the race for top spot come down to just the solitary point (despite Melbourne Victory having a game in hand). Now Perth sit just one point off the top and have a relatively simple run into the finals. Perth will have to face the bottom two teams as well as Melbourne City FC who have now picked up three wins in a row and are looking dangerous heading into the last few rounds. The only real challenge for the glory should come from a Sydney FC side who is also fighting for that tops spot on the table. Sydney are only above Perth due to goal difference and the match looks to be a spectacle as the game will be in Perth. This being said, Perth has only won 2 games in all of 2015 and a lacklustre performance against the Wanderers does not make up for that. The game did not signify the 24 point difference between the sides and at stages, the equal bottom placed Wanderers looked to cause an upset.
After Perth's blistering start to the season came to a stutter, many have questioned Perth's title credentials. If the boys from the west can use the momentum from their recent return to the winners circle to come home strong coming into the finals then they could be able to cause some upsets and possible go all the way to the final. Has Perth turned a corner and hit their stride at the right end of the season, or is this just a small positive in an otherwise forgettable 2015?
