Perth Glory recorded a 2-1 victory over the Newcastle Jets, breaking a lengthy winless period.
When Adam Taggart opened the scoring just after the hour, it looked like Glory would be consigned to another defeat.
But with the prospect of the dreaded wooden spoon looming, Perth were able to record an inspiring comeback.
Nebojsa Marinkovic has, without doubt, been the finest import this season.
The attacking midfielder has shown his ability from set-pieces on a number of occasions since coming to Western Australia.
He floated home a fine curling free kick with just six minutes of normal time remaining in this one.
The equaliser galvanised Glory, and just a minute later Chris Harold, often a maligned figure for much of the season, found the net with a fine header, after a cross from Brazilian winger Sidnei.
The win will prove a real relief for Kenny Lowe, who will now hope to push on and avoid the wooden spoon, having overcome this barren run.
