Perth Glory face off against Sydney FC at the Allianz Stadium this Saturday evening.
Perth’s form has been patchy at best going into this one, and the match is shaping up as the proverbial ‘six-pointer’, with a chance for Glory to overtake their rivals should they prevail.
Sydney FC have traditionally been the A-League’s glamour club. They energised the competition back in its infancy when they took out the inaugural Championship in 2006.
But today they look a shadow of their former selves. They’ve recently been overshadowed by the noisiest of neighbours from the west of the city.
Sydney are there for the taking - do Glory have the wherewithal, guile and striking firepower to get the job done?
Daniel De Silva has been promoted to the match squad for this weekend’s clash. It is difficult to remember that he is still only the tender age of 16, such is his precocious talent.
On the brief occasions that he has been sighted this season, De Silva has looked comfortable in possession and seems to have an eye for a pass.
If Glory are to take advantage of any weaknesses that might persist for Sydney FC, they must start with a high tempo and look to be proactive.
Will Kenny Lowe send out his team to win, as gathering A-League points become ever more important in the race for the finals?
